Terms of use
Last updated: 29 October 2026
These terms apply to the Lumap software (the app, the engine and their updates) and this website. By installing or using Lumap you accept them.
1. Licence
Lumap is proprietary software. Ibe Van de Veire grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use it, for private and commercial shows, on computers you control. During the beta this licence is free of charge. Paid editions, if offered later, will come with their own terms; a version you already have under these terms stays usable under them.
You may not: sell, rent or redistribute Lumap or its installers (link to this site instead); remove copyright or licence notices; or decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer it, except where the law expressly allows this regardless of this clause. Open-source components inside Lumap remain under their own licences; see open-source licences.
2. Beta versions
Beta versions are released for testing. They may contain errors, change or remove features, and change show file formats. Keep backups of your show files and do not rely on a beta for an important show without testing it first.
3. Safety
Lumap controls real equipment: lamps, strobes, moving heads, hazers and anything else on your DMX network. You are responsible for the installation and its safe use, including:
- rigging, electrical and fire safety according to the rules of your venue and country;
- testing every show before an audience sees it;
- strobes and fast flashing effects, which can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy: limit them and warn your audience;
- moving heads and other motorised fixtures: keep their range clear of people and objects.
Never use Lumap to control safety-critical systems such as emergency lighting, pyrotechnics, motorised rigging or anything on which someone's safety depends.
4. No warranty
Lumap is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We do not promise that it is free of errors, that it works with every fixture or interface, or that it runs without interruption.
5. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damage, lost income, a cancelled or disrupted show, lost data, or damage to equipment resulting from the use of Lumap. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent, gross negligence, death or personal injury, or any liability that cannot be limited by law. If you are a consumer, you keep the rights that consumer law of your country gives you.
6. Updates
Lumap can check for updates and installs one only when you agree. We may stop offering a version or the whole software at any time. Versions you have installed keep working; they do not need our servers.
7. Third-party services
Optional features that use other services (such as an AI service with your own key) are subject to that service's terms. We are not responsible for them.
8. Changes and law
We may change these terms; the version on this page with its date applies to versions released after that date. These terms are governed by Belgian law, without depriving consumers of the protection of the mandatory law of their own country. The courts of Belgium have jurisdiction, unless the law gives a consumer the right to go to the courts where they live. Questions: info@lumap.tech.
